DAY 1 Johannesburg to Klaserie Private Nature Reserve - nThambo Tree Lodge

On your arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, a local representative will meet and escort you to your scheduled transfer, which departs at 06.15 in the morning. You will be transferred by road to your lodge in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which shares unfenced borders with the world famous Kruger National Park. On arrival at nThambo Tree Lodge, your environmentally friendly lodge, you will be welcomed by the head game ranger who will give you a brief orientation session. Your accommodation at the lodge is unique - a 'tree house' raised on wooden stilts with wooden flooring, canvas tent walls and a thatched roof. Each solar-powered chalet has a verandah with wonderful views over the plains and distant Drakensberg Mountains. You will be shown to your chalet where you can relax and unwind before your afternoon open vehicle game drive, this will last approximately 2-3 hours and a stop will be made along the way for sundowners. On return to the lodge you will enjoy dinner under the African stars around a log fire (weather permitting). SPECIAL NOTE - Transfer from OR Tambo International Airport departs daily at 06.15
DAY 2 nThambo Tree Lodge: Game experiences

Awake to the sounds of the African bush, this morning you will embark on an early morning game drive where you can experience a beautiful sunrise in the wild. This reserve is home to the Big 5, as well as a huge variety of other game such as various antelope (buck species), giraffe, hyena, hippo, cheetah, wild dog, baboons, monkeys and much more. There is also an abundance of bird life to be enjoyed. Return to your lodge in the late morning to enjoy a hearty brunch. After brunch you may take an optional guided walking safari, where you will learn a lot more about tracking animals, their spoor, the vegetation and ecology of the area. A chance to get closer to nature and a wildlife experience very different to the game drives. Alternatively you may decide to relax in your lovely chalet and read a good book. Later in the afternoon you will embark on your second evening game drive through the reserve. Once it gets dark your ranger will use a powerful spotlight to seek out the nocturnal animals. The chance of spotting leopard is higher at night, and you may even be lucky enough to witness a lion hunt. Once you return to the lodge a delicious dinner awaits you.
DAY 3 nThambo Tree Lodge: Game experiences

You arise to another splendid full day at this rustic but enchanting lodge. You will have the opportunity to, hopefully, spot those animals on your wish-to-see list that eluded you on your previous game drives. Enjoy another early morning game drive before brunch and another evening game drive with sundowners. You will also have another chance to experience a walking safari after brunch. On return to the lodge after your last night safari enjoy a farewell dinner followed by relaxed star gazing around the camp fire.
DAY 4 nThambo Tree Lodge to O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg

Early morning game drive, followed by brunch and check out formalities. You will be transferred to Hoedspruit Airport approx 30min away from the lodge, on arrival at Hoedspruit your 12:00 road transfer departure awaits you. You will be dropped off at OR Tambo International Airport in time to check in for your onward flight. SPECIAL NOTE - Return transfer from Hoedspruit to OR Tambo International Airport departs daily at midday 12:00pm
